St James Anglican Church, Castlecrag in the Sydney suburb of Willoughby East wanted something really special to celebrate their patron saint, St James.
St James is often depicted as a fisherman, as he fished for a living in the Sea of Galilee with his brother John before Jesus called them away from their nets to follow him.
The Danthonia team painstakingly sculpted this carving of St James in his boat from a single piece of HDU (high density urethane) before painting it to look just like wood. The choice of HDU over wood means this sign won’t split, warp or mould and will look great for years to come.
